Just imagine if he played the whole year.
The voting panel for the All Rookie Team consists of all 30 NBA coaches. First team votes are worth two points, second team votes worth one, and coaches could not vote for their own players.
Paul George from the Indiana Pacers was the 5th player named to the second team by way of earning the 10th most points overall. Skyenga finished 11 points behind George when the final votes were tallied.
The First Team consisted of Blake Griffin, John Wall, Landry Fields, DeMarcus Cousins, and Gary Neal.
Second Teamers, in addition to George, included Greg Monroe, Wesley Johnson, Eric Bledsoe and Derrick Favors.
As we mentioned in Dave Wooley’s season ending points tracker update, Skyenga finished the season scoring 303 points in 44 games. That breaks out to 6.9 points per night, and goes along with the 3 rebounds and nearly 1 assist per game he averaged in 21.5 minutes of action per contest.
And for whatever it’s worth, Paul George and Eric Bledsoe both averaged less points per game than Skyenga did this year.
PS – The weather is breaking and it is the perfect time to buy a Skyenga shirt. So get on that now peoples!
Congrats again on a solid rookie campaign, Skyenga. We’re looking forward to next year already.
