Latest At SLAM: Rave Reviews For Matthew Dellavedova

My latest article at SLAM is a feature on Matthew Dellavedova. The undrafted Australian from St. Mary's University currently leads all rookies in three-point field-goal percentage at 45.8 percent. He also ranks 17th among all rookies at 13.6 minutes per game.

The Cavaliers guard and I talked about the role Mike Brown is asking him to play this season along with what it's like to compete against Kyrie Irving on a daily basis. We also discussed the impact that running the Rocky Steps in Philadephia had on his endurance this season as well as the weekly blog he's writing for an Australian newspaper.

In the excerpt below, Delly talks about his first memories of the NBA which came from highlight tapes from the local video store celebrating Michael Jordan the Chiacgo Bulls of the 1990's.

NBA League Pass wasn’t invented when Matthew Dellavedova was growing up in Australia. They weren’t broadcasting games on local television, either. But even though he wouldn’t watch live NBA action until high school, Dellavedova always knew where he wanted to go.
“Like most people around my age, my first memories of the NBA were of Michael Jordan,” the 23-year-old Dellavedova told SLAM. “But for me, mine were from watching Jordan and the Bulls on those championship videos you’d get at the local video store. It was before the NBA was on TV in Australia, but I remember first watching those highlight videos.”
