That legendary night the Cavaliers beat the Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Denver Nuggets last night, snapping their 17-game winning streak.

The Clippers had just gone 16-0 through the month of December. They're currently 25-7 overall, one half-game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for the NBA's best record.

As their streak increased from eight wins, to 10, to 14, the legend of how Cleveland beat LA at Staples Center earlier this season continued to grow in my mind.

In celebration of the Clippers recent streak, I wanted to look back at that legendary night on November 5, 2012.

In their only meeting of the season so far, the 7-25 Cavaliers handed the Clippers a 108-101 home loss.

Dion Waiters exploded for 28 points in his fourth NBA game, doing this from three-point range.

Waiters went 7-for-11 from three on the night while fellow rookie Tyler Zeller finished with 15 points and seven rebounds before smashing bones in his face.

It was only their fourth NBA game.

Kyrie Irving had 24 points and 10 assists. Anderson Varejao grabbed 15 rebounds while also scoring 15. CJ Miles came off the bench to add 10 more points too.

The Cavs where clicking on all cylinders.

Meanwhile, Chris Paul finished with 17 points and Blake Griffin threw-in 20 but it was not enough to beat the mighty Cavs.

At the time, I felt the most appropriate headline for my blog recap was this:

Reasons for Crazed Enthusiasm following Cavs win over Clippers last night

That crazed enthusiasm has since waned a little bit. Maybe tonight against the Sacramento Kings we can get some of that feeling back.

No matter what happens, though, we'll always have that win over the Clippers this season.

Lob City, what.
